Uig Community Centre Association (UCCA) is a registered Scottish charity and community anchor organisation serving the community of Uig on the Isle of Lewis.
Established in 1995 and opened in 1998, the centre was created through extensive local fundraising and support from funding bodies, with over £20,000 raised directly by the local community through events including ceilidhs, gala days, and community meal nights.
Today, Uig Community Centre provides an important shared space for local residents, community groups, visitors, and partner organisations. The facility includes a community hall, café, gym, meeting rooms, office space, museum area, kitchen facilities, and the local fire station. The centre is also used regularly by the connected local school and hosts a wide range of community activities and events throughout the year.
Our aims are to:
- Support community wellbeing and reduce rural isolation
- Provide accessible facilities and activities for all ages
- Encourage local culture, heritage, and creativity
- Support volunteering and community participation
- Maintain a sustainable community hub for the future of Uig
The centre is managed by a voluntary board of trustees operating as Uig Community Centre Association SCIO.
